We made gumball machines from upside-down mini cupcake wrappers and a clear, plastic ornament filled with a few candies. A sweet message can be written on the cupcake wrapper before assembling. We put our message on the inside, but if you choose to glue the ornament to the wrapper, a tag or message on the outside would be better.

How to make these super easy Valentine cookies

These might be the easiest Valentine cookies…ever. Get yourself a package of Oreo cookies, a tube of red frosting, and some red decorating sugar. Of course, if pink is your go-to Valentine’s Day color, get pink. We love that, too.

To make the sweet hearts on each cookie, just push a large bead of frosting onto the cookie and then pull the frosting bag toward yourself keeping it so close that it is almost touching the cookie. Do the same to create the other half of the heart, then, gently dip the heart side of the cookie into the colored sugar.

Precious Valentine’s Day cookies, lovely enough for a party, are ready in a flash.

Procrastinators unite!

With one week left until Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d offer an idea for easy DIY Valentine bookmarks. These bookmarks are pretty… and pretty useful, too. They are fantastic, small Valentines gifts for kids and just as precious for the teachers.

Making Valentines Bookmarks

You will need…

*Ribbon- We used ¾” to 1” wide ribbon. (But you can use any width ribbon you like)
*Yarn
*Scissors

*Tags- use our free downloadable tags!

*Paper for printing tags

*Stapler or glue dots

How to create Valentine Bookmarks

1. Begin by cutting the ribbon into 12 inch lengths.

2. Next, make two pom-poms for each ribbon. Get the pompom how-to here.

3. Before trimming the ends of the yarn that you have used to secure the pom-pom, place one end of the ribbon in the center of the pom-pom and tie a secure knot around it with the yarn.

4. Do the same to the other end of the ribbon, then trim the pom-poms.

5. Print or make tags

6. Attach a tag to the ribbon with a stapler or glue dot.

That’s it. These Valentines bookmarks are so simple, but are just a precious way to say Happy Valentine’s Day. These make great (sugar-free) gifts for the kids to give their classmates and teachers. They are truly easy enough for a child to create themselves. Younger children may need a bit of help with tying and stapling. They are also great gifts to give your students… if you are a teacher.

How to Create Chocolate Cherry Valentine’s Cupcakes

The supplies-

* Cupcakes- home baked or store bought. We like using white or chocolate for this one.

* Cherries Jubilee Dessert Skirtz- cupcake wrappers make all the difference!

* High quality dark chocolate bars

* Fresh cherries… or maraschino in a pinch, if fresh just can’t be found

The how to-

* Drop the cupcakes into your cherry cupcake wrappers.

* Break the chocolate bar into pieces. Long and pointed pieces look dramatic.

* Push a piece of chocolate into each cupcake and nestle a cherry right next to the chocolate.

How to make a cupcake topper with an inedible flower?

Use a straw, cut to the height of the frosted cupcake. Push the straw into the cupcake and insert the stem of the flower into the straw. Just be sure to choose flowers with thinner stems, so they will fit. If they don’t fit, use foil to cover the stems before you insert them into the cupcakes. We chose miniature red roses for our cupcakes, and showed them off in their Little Black Dress cupcake wrappers. This works with artificial flowers, too! So lovely.
